Welcome to Make & Move Club

Welcome to Make & Move Club! We are a a non profit organization based out of Cumberland County, NJ. Make & Move Club was founded by Ruth and Joshua Barreiro with the goals of connecting with the youth in their community hoping to make a difference. We believe all youth should have access to STEM resources and be provided the opportunity to learn skills to help them be successful in the 21st century. We feel that learning is enhanced by movement, play and fitness as an outlet of energy and as a part of the creative and critical thinking process. Our goals are to foster positive relationships with the youth in Vineland City and other economically disadvantaged areas of Cumberland County, provide exposure to science, technology, engineering and mathematics through robotics and other hands on activities, and to provide an environment that offers health & fitness services.

The mission of Make & Move Club is the pursuit of the following principles:

  • Connection: Make & Move aspires to connect youth to role models in the community, to promote positive relationships with their peers, and to connect learning activities to future career goals.

  • Ownership: The focus of Make & Move is to empower youth by providing them with a sense of ownership of the program and their lives. Student directed learning will allow students to feel empowered by choosing the focus of their learning.

  • Support: A strong, caring support system is a necessity. Make & Move wants to surround young people in a caring, inclusive learning environment that embraces all youth and allows them to feel supported in all aspects of their lives.

  • Opportunity: Make & Move wants to expand the perspective of youth in the community to have confidence in themselves and create opportunities for youth to experience successes. Understanding opportunities available will instill a sense of hope for their future.
