S.T.E.M Family Night
The recent S.T.E.M Family Night held at Gloria M. Sabater Elementary School in Vineland was a hit with the community! The event was made possible because of a grant from Vineland Education Association and Shirley Santos, a bilingual teacher at Sabater school who serves as the Board President of Boys & Girls Club of Vineland. The room was full of laughter and smiles, and volunteers were delighted to see the faces of the children light up during the STEM activities provided by Make & Move Club, a non-profit after school and summer program focused on making a difference through STEM, play and fitness. Inspira Health Network, Cumberland County TEC and the Vineland Police Department provided community support for the event and focused on the connection between STEM activities and possible careers. VPD even had a mock crime scene for participants to explore the forensic science used in police work.
By working with community partners, Make & Move Club hopes that events like these will generate more collaboration between organizations in the community. Make & Move's next partnership will be with Cumberland County College and their Summer Academy for Kids.
